Honest to God, I was like a kid at Christmas today. The first three issues of Super Fogeys came in the mail! Now I’ve read them all online, but getting those books today reminded how cool it is to see your favorite strips in print.
Comic books still have the lead in the resolution game, not to mention the nostalgia of a lifelong addiction to the printed sequential medium. So now, if you’re new to SF, these books are a great way to get started, and you don’t have to worry about battery life while trying to get through all the strips. And if you’ve been a fan of SF and are all caught up on all the Space Pig goodness, you’ll treasure these books even more.
Well I must say, this pen is a thing of beauty. Picked up a couple this morning and have put them through the ringer all day. This is now my new official workhorse pen.
As a life long magician and a fan of Cirque, just had to share these first look pictures of Criss Angels’ Cirque show “Believe”.
This will get me to go to Vegas:

I’m not attending Comic Con this (nothing new as I have never been). But Chris Sanders hinted on his blog he’s putting together some books for the con. Now I’m very sad I’m not going.
Alas, I can at least get my Kiskaloo fix online:

The Berke Breathed interview is now up at TTF! Still in that thick dream haze of “did we actually get to interview Berke Breathed?”. Well it’s real, true, and now live.
And also, you must check out the illustration by Lucas Turnbloom of “Imagine This“. Just plain wow!
I’m am very guilty of that moniker. Try to hide it, but just found another site to feed my addiction. Via notebookism.com, discovered a great blog that deals strictly with alternatives to Moleskines. Moleskines happen to be my drug of choice, but I’m always on the lookout for other brands that also meet my requirements.
And as a topper, they’re having a little contest too:
Wanted to share this bit of news here. Even if you read SF online, you must get it in print. I love having my favorite strips in book format.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled comics are getting recognition these days. But, having been one of the rookies trying to bust into the business during the 90’s comics crash, anytime the market rockets towards the moon I tend to get a touch of the jitters.
But the 90’s crash was mostly due to piling junk on top of junk simply because it was selling. Then readers collectively decided to cut the sequential fat from their diets.
What I’m hoping is that enough coal turns into diamonds to keep the market strong after the dust blows away.
So for now, I don’t mind coughing up a little coal dust, so long as I trip over a few sparkling rocks. And I hope that Holy Black’s foray into comics proves to be a bit of bling:
Very excited! Sophie will be appearing in one of my favorite comic strips, Imagine This. If you haven’t started reading it yet, now’s the perfect time.
